Paradise Gardens is donating to a community project, City Roots Community Garden in Woodbine, Southwest Calgary and would encourage other local businesses to do the same.

City Roots is a small group of gardeners and people who love gardens. They are looking for people to help organize, advertise and build the first class urban garden. We will be hosted at Oakridge Co-op on June 20th, 2009. Come see us at our little and obscure table and join in the fun. The location is near the 7-11 on Woodbine Boulevard. This has already gone through the city and the community board. We need a committe and an organization and a work force! It will be a beautiful place to come and plant, come and learn, come and tutor first time gardeners and a wonderful place to come and relax and watch the peas and tomatoes grow.

This group is not run by Paradise Gardens Enterprises nor a part of the Peace Gardens project, however it is being spearheaded by Marlene Young, Prasad Ganesan, Jeannie Theissen and others who will join us.

New Temple in Calgary Brings Canadian Total to Eight  (part of news release)

 One of the five new temples announced this weekend by Thomas S. Monson, president of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, will be located in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. Specifics concerning the exact location and architectural design of the newly announced Calgary temple are not yet available.

Pres. Thomas S Monson of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latterday Saints announced in General Conference on Oct 3, 2008 there will be a Latter-day Saint (Mormon) Temple built in Calgary, as well as in Cordoba, Argentina; Rome, Italy; Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA; and one for the Greater Kansas City Area, USA. This will make 3 temples in Alberta (Cardston, Edmonton and now Calgary), a total of 8 in Canada. The population of the world-wide church has surpassed 13 million.
